by indie i mean the genre, and not the size of the record label. post-punk revival would work equally as well.

that's a matter of preference, but i would have to say that the best album i've heard is neutral milk hotel's "in the aeroplane over the sea." among the newer releases, beriut's "gulag orkestar" and rock plaza central's "are we not horses" are brilliant.

'Is This It' is one of the best albums to be released so far this decade. It was a big step forward for rock and roll in general, not just the subgenres like garage rock or indie rock.

Now Hinder and My Chemical Romance are hot bands and we've taken three steps back...

Yes, because "Is This It?" isn't technically an indie record at all. It was released by RCA which is a major, not an independent, label.

im sure there are plenty, its a matter of personal prefrence also. in my opinion a better indie album is, trail of dead worlds apart was better
and also its not really indie, closer to punk.
