I was wondering if anyone has any advice to help speed up the labor process. I was in the ER last night and they said that i am just starting the early labor stage. I am not even a cm yet. I was just wondering how I can speed up this process, or if you cant how much longer does it usually take till I go into active labor.

Oh I know the feeling! I was told to walking is a good way.. I know you want to speed this up and everything, but I am going to suggest resting. The baby is going to come when he/she feels like it. And once the baby comes your going to be awake a lot, so if I were you, I might consider resting as much as you can before your sweet little bundle comes into the world. Enjoy and Congrats!

Don't listen to too many old wives tales. Let the baby come at his/her own time. Unless the doc is concerned that the labor is lasting too long. Attempting to speed up the process too fast might cause some unwanted complications. I know you want to hear some easy remedies to make the baby come fast and painless but none exsist. You will stress yourself and the baby with all the worrying and such. Just relax and take some warm baths and let it happen naturally.
I would have loved to have sped up my 18 hour labor with my daughter but not at the cost of affect mine or her health, I let her come out when she was ready and she was healthy with zero complications. All was as it shouldve been. I know is uncomfortable but just imagine being the baby in there, its not much fun for him/her either. But you are both working towards a greater purpose.

walk and walk
I am over due and have no sign of labor yet, but my Dr told me to be active and walk

And Hot shower is not good for early labor, it will slow it down, you take one when you are in real labor that will make you relax and help with pain

Well, if you are trying to induce labor, increase prostglandins. These are most easily attained by sperm---have sex if you feel like it or think you can. It is a common myth that sex will harm an unborn baby. Also, try nipple stimulation. Take your nipples and shake them around for a few minutes by pulling them forward or rubbing them--do not hurt yourself. Lastly, try taking a ride on a bumpy road! This info was given to me by my OB when I was pregnant. Do not try to induce labor unless you are full term.

Take a long walk, a hot shower, or have sex. That is what they told me before I had my daughter.
