Well when me and my boyfriend were choosing a name for our son we chose names that no one else we knew of had named thier kids, like Elijah, Ethan, Harley and Cole....We chose Ethan, and for 5 months before he was born we were telling ppl what we had picked, no one knew of anyone with the name, then a month after he was born 5 other ppl ended up having their sons named Ethan, then his Godparents cousin had a baby and named him Ethan too......The worst thing you can do is tell ppl what your naming your baby, they'll name their kids the name you have picked....I dunno why but they do....My bestfriend had Mackenzie picked out for her baby (who turned out to be a boy), and before she knew though my sister had a baby and named her daughter Mackenzie, (i hate that so much).

The "wild west names" are also used excessively. There is no need for any more hunter's, coltons, or heaven forbid, wyatt.
The problem is that these names are MACHO & Tough, but most of the unfortunate kids who get these names are wimpy, nerdy kids who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag.
Also, the name conner is used too much as well.

Hannah and Hailey! I know a million of them! :) Beautiful names BUT still way too popular....
Also, Hunter and Jacob.
I think that so many middle names are overused too.....Lyn, Lee, Marie, Ann (that is mine) and now Grace and Rose. Almost every little girl in my class has one of these middle names!

For boys, I don't think it's necessarily bad to have an overused name, but I really don't like seeing an overused name on a girl, for some reason. I don't like the boys name Aiden, though, which is getting popular.

Those 'M' names' - McKayla, Madison, and McKenzie! I hear those all the time.
Other names that I see over and over in the birth announcements are Zoey, Jasmine, Aiden, Peyton, Emma, Emily, and Brody.
Some of them I like, some of them I don't.

Katelyn (in it's various spellings) is a name I think way too many little girls have.
Brandon is an overused boys name.

I work in a middle school that has 850 kids. Ashley is way overused, Matthew, Megan, Caitlin or Katelyn.
