I'm not sure if i should get humbucker replacements for my strat. I could also get single coil sized humbuckers, but they don't suit me that well...

Take it to a music store that has a good repairman. He can rout out a hole where you want the pick up. I'd go with the single coil sized humbucker and if it isn't the exact tone you want, adjust your amp. Research all the pickups and read reviews. If you don't mind carving up your strat and are dead set against the single coil size, go for it.....probably in the bridge position. You can also get a coil tap switch installed that will turn the new humbucker into a single coil.

Unless you have a very, very cheap strat, it would be cheaper to just buy a guitar that already has the kind of pick-ups you think you want.

But bear in mind that if you are a crappy guitarist, no amount of guitar will make you sound better; practice is the only thing that will make you sound better!

Why would you want to put humbuckers on a Strat, anyway? Just buy a Gibson clone if you want a Gibson sound!

According to my husband, if you are talking about the bridge position, then replace the pick guard and shave some of the wood underneath to make it fit properly.

Good luck!

UPDATE:
Sorry . . . some carving will be necessary.
