If you want to become gothic, you would have to listen to the music (below is a link for a list), dressing gothic comes later or not at all. Some people are gothic and don't even look like it. Some people look gothic and don't know any of the music, those people are "posers". Goths are simply people with a dark sense of humor and dark personality. Most of them are not evil.
Goths worship many faiths(or are atheist). I know many Christian goths.
Some of the posers give the impression that they are satanic, and you have to be satanic to be gothic~ again they are posers, don't listen to those jack offs!
hope this helps!

Well you can never become Gothic. Gothic isnt how you dress but a state of mind. Being Gothic is finding beauty in dark things, not evil. Also finding beauty where beauty seems absent. It is a hard thing to explain in words. You have to be Gothic to understand how a Goth thinks. No they do not worship Satan. I am Gothic and very much so a Christian.

Satan was an Anunaki,
and Christians worship an Anunaki

satanists worship Satan

Gothic is a fashionable term it has nothing to do with any kind of religion
it used to mean a specific race in germany ,and a style of building.
ever read Asterix and the Goths

1 - You dont "become" gothic.
2 - Vey few goths "worship satan" a small majority of people in general do, there are however a few LaVeyan Satanists who are Gothic, who basically believe in self worship and fulfilling desires, not a literal Satan. Many Goths are christian or athiests, some muslims, really any religion, goth and religion arent related.
3 - Goth is on its most basic scale a genre of music, Gothic bands like The Cruxshadows, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Voltaire, Paralyzed Age, Xandria, The Birthday Massacre, etc etc, metal is not gothic like many people believe...Slipknot, Cradle Of Filth, Marylin Manson are basially the epitome of mallgoth (poser) music.
4 - Goth is a subculture evolved out of punk, it has basically the same beliefs of being yourself, supporting the underground, D.I.Y ethics, this of course is a very basic explanation
5 - Black clothes do not make you goth..Goth in otherwords is not about dressing in all black like some kind of melancholy moron, though black generally is a dominant color
6 - Goths, generally are not sad, I would consider myself a RivetHead Goth/RomantiGoth/Traditional Goth, I am generally the happy person in my group and most of my friends are quite "normal" if their is such a thing
7 - Hot Topic will not make you gothic, quite the contrary, not to say you cant be Gothic and shop there, but It's not the most respected store in the gothic subculture, mainly out of their commercialization of Goth and Punk. Many goths/punks make their clothes or get them from the internet/thrift stores
8 - Goths respect intellegence, and we dont hesitate to use wit defensively. (ussually through sarcasm/irony)
9 - Suicidal thoughts/Self Injury is not a prerequesite for Goth, most goths are happy people, while some goths may be suicidal/self harm, but it is not mandatory nor enocouraged.
10 - A lot of goth is about individualism, meaning we look down among the people who play follow the leader in the world.
11 - While just my personal statement, dont follow the subculture then deny that labels exist..
12 - Not all goths hate emos (since you asked) I dont like the perversion of the emos seperate subcultures, Many emos get on my nerves, but I dont hate them
13 - Dont disgrace my subculture by "turning gothic just for a few days to scare people." or dressing up as one for Halloween, youll just end up making the real goths disresect you. Why mess with them?
14 - Goth is what you make it to be really..

I'm pretty sure the real definition of Gothic has to do with a style of art and/or architecture. Anyway, usually the "Goths" like to wear dark clothes, be generally pesimistic and hateful, and listen to hard rock or metal or death metal or stuff like that. Most don't worship Satan because they're usually Atheists.

The thing that always makes me laugh- "don't label us! We're unique beings!" but they all dress and look alike, and judge each other.

Being Gothic is a culture, not a religion. It is a state of mind like being ghetto(modern definition) or being emo. Gothic style is usually expressed through alot of dark colors and an unkempt look, sometimes accompanied by chains or spiked bands. Many goths are in cults or occults which I would avoid if I were you

you don't become gothic you just are...no they don't worship satan... some might but not all... some are even very strong christians... people for some reason get the idea that all of them worship satan and hate god and everything but it isn't a sin to wear black... and the puritans never wore color at all and no one thought there was anything wrong with them.... a lot of people also get the idea that they are all mean ... and most of them are the nicest people you'll ever mean... and people think they are all sad and want to kill them selfs but a lot of them are actually happy.... they are like everyone else and you shouldn't treat them any differently.. and if you really want to "become" gothic i'm sure you wouldn't want people to treat you differently because of the clothes you wear

gothic is kind of dark, but as far as i know there is nothing satanic about it.
nowadays (man that makes me sound old) goth is mostly wearing black clothing, finger nail polish, hair... and trying to look as pale as possible. they seem to be all into vampires.

i've always been kind of dark myself, but they didn't call it goth then.

edit
i don't worship satan, or hate anything. especially myself. being bored and wanting to scare those around you isn't a good reason to become something you just aren't.

Gothic means dressing dark and being interested in the dark aspects of life such as death and pain. Darkness can have several meanings. Goths are not all Satanists but they are not bubbly type of people.

There really is no set way to become "Gothic". You just kinda do it. It is all a style of clothes, and sometimes talk. And no, not all "Gothic" people worship Satan although that is a common stereotype. There are many "Gothic" people that go to my church.
