Adapt to change, and think that people sometimes simply change their mind and that it has nothing to do with you. When something like that happens, you can either get depressed or learn from experience and move on. Remember that someone can always choose another without having it be a reflection on you and whether or not you are chosen by any significant other is not the way you validate your own self-worth.

Self-worth cannot be verified by others. You are worthy because you say it is so. If you depend on others for your value it is other-worth.

I think it really depends on who the person is. How long you have known them and also the circumstances. Hope of a change, is hope of something that will happen. But it is not necessarily a guarantee. When they have said that they will change and then go and the next day are back to their old habits then they have just proven their character. People who act in this way are normally manipulative and know how to use those things to get under others skin. I think that while you arent referencing anyone some one has done this to you. My advice is to move away from that person. If they want to change and really do it will be more than a day to see a difference. The best advice is to support them without really putting your hopes into it.

I would think that God didn't intend for me to go down that path. And I definitely wouldn't associate with that person again.
