So my mom past away, what does my dad call her family (their not really that close) when he has a new girlfriend?
And my boyfriend too. He had a wife that died, what does he call her family. Its sorta wierd that he calls them in-laws still right?

If there are children involved, they will continue to be inlaws for life.

We give children all this crap to deal with, dads, moms, step dads, moms, uncles etc.

Think of them and their lifelong confusion and your little dilemma does not seem so big, does it?

Seriously, they can call them whatever they want to call them. Its a title that gives them a bit of familiarity in their upside down world. Over time, they may grow apart and title will no longer be an issue.

Just because a spouse past on does not mean you cold heartily erase the history you have and the connections you formed with the deceased' family. It should not bother you, and if you care about your father and your boyfriend, they need support, comfort and understanding, not criticism.

Even though your mother died, her family is still, legally his in-laws. Same situation for your boyfriend.
