There is nothing wrong with her. It is something they did many years ago. The first morning urine is a wonderful fertilizer for your plants.
If you are uncomfortable with it, then talk to her about it and she will be able to explain it better than people who do not know her. If you still feel a bit weirded out by it then maybe she would be willing to compromise by keeping it outside in a garage or something..
**Blessings**

Strange, yes. Stinky? You bet! Back when........in UK.......the gardeners who lived on the estate would keep a peat pile or compost pile and would urinate into the pile. The nitrogen from the pee would enrich the compost.
If youf aunt is healthy, it's OK. But if she's on meds, all those drugs pass into her urine and thus into the garden via the pee. In fact drug residue in munciple sewage that is dumped into waterways (after being "cleaned") is a major concern for wildlife and people down steam. We also see it with dairy cow runoff and all the drugs given to today's dairy cows.
Anyway, your aunt is eccentric, but not yet crazy.

pee is sterile [if the person's healthy of course, it's another matter if there's blood or any other kind of discharge along with the pee], so maybe if water is super scarce or expensive where she lives that's her way to save $ and still be able to garden
also, for all we know there are still nutrients in the pee that could be beneficial to the plants' growth/development
i bet it can get pretty stinky though if she stores it for more than a couple of days; if she's using it to grow just some pretty flowers and stuff, whatever i wouldn't care as long as all around the outside house it didn't stink too much but if she's using it to grow veggies and plants for consumption i think i'd be grossed out, especially if she tried to serve me that for dinner... even though i just said pee is sterile, there's still something in me that'd say "ugh!" just like recycling waste water for human consumption, even though it'd be clean/purified as normal drinking water, there's still be an ick factor... hehehe
but hey! in regards to your aunt's gardening all we can say is "to each his/her own!"

In a very kind way,ask her to keep it outside.Fresh urine is sterile unless there is infection. However, urine allowed to stand at room temperature grows bacteria and will create an unhealthy envionment. Bacterial growth causes the smell. It is the breakdown that creates ammonia that makes it helpful. If she understands there is nothing magical about the ammonia it creates, she may be willing to let you buy her ammonia formulated for plants. Older people are from a different era and had to often "make do". They are the original originators of recycleing. Gently guide her to a better understanding of what she is doing. One other little tidbit of info;geriatric(older people) frequently lose their sense of smell. She may not realize it is smelling bad. One of the tests for Altzheimers is a smell test. You can buy a smell tester in your larger pharmacies. Blessings!

There is nothing wrong with your dear aunt. Tell her to acquire a patent as soon as possible on her pee-watering-system before some one else steals the invention!!!

Urine left standing and exposed to atmospheric oxygen will break down into ammonia. There are also traces of other nutrients that can be beneficial to plants. Frankly I prefer Miracle Gro.
Remember- poeple trapped in buildings for days drink their urine to stay hydrated. It won't hurt you unless infected.
If you let it break down into ammonia, it makes a hell of a tanning solvent that makes animal skins loosen any hairs and brighten, in the process of making leather.

has she done this a while? before this year? i've never heard about this. check this out with a dr. or one of her friends. it would be unsanitary to keep it in her room. does she fill up a lot of buckets? unless your in a warm climate, there will be alot of buckets in her room. or does she dump it in the soil when the bucket is full? boop

While she is saving this great fluid, maybe she can use it with Mr. Coffee and get Mr. Folgers. Seriously, If I was a plant I would not like to be pee'd on. Besides, isn't urine bad for plants? I know when the dog goes on the grass, it usually kills it or discolors it. Please help her to stop doing this !

I have heard that ammonia is good for plants, but I would think it would be easier to get a bottle at the store.

confident, you do. how are you going to replace paradigms, grab the "low putting fruit," or chosen projects that are "value variety impartial"? in case you do no longer understand what he's doing, you're out of the loop.
