My dad has a two year contract with verizon...I am on the account as well. In march 06 my phone was falling apart so I had one turned on that I had at my house...No problem..Now my phone is falling apart again so I go to verizon and ask for a phone that retails for 279.00 but since I am on a two year contract I get the phone for 99.00. ..great...
I go to buy the phone this a.m. and a blue tooth and then before they ring it up they tell me that I am not due for an upgrade yet, so they want me to pay the full 279.00 for the phone. Is there a way around this. It sounds like B.S. to me. I am buying their products and want to continue the service..what a load of crap. Is there a way I wont have to buy the phone for that much or is it just TOO BAD for me?

what you can do is try customer service if you are the primary line on the account its called an early upgrade you can do it about every 12 months instead of every 22 months if that does not work all phones are under warranty for a year but no physical damage of water damage and they will trade it out if your not the primary line have your dad do the upgrade if he can, and if that does not work it would be full price or eBay pick and choose eBay can be dangerous you don't know what kind of condition the phone is in. also it would not be covered under warranty but try customer care first phone will be mailed but they have way more pull than the store does. tell them what is going on if anything they can do a bare minimum phone for 90$ and have it mailed

It's not BS. Verizon will only let you upgrade your phone at a discount once you've had their service for 22 months and agree to another 24 month contract. They discount your phone in order to intice you to sign up for two years. And your incentive to sign up for another two years will be another discount. If you are rough on your phone, I strongly recommend the $4.95 per month for insurance. You could also try buying one from ebay.
