It's like any other Floridian coastal city except that there's a lot more money than in cities like Daytona. (It has its poor side of town too, of course.) The first roads to learn are US1, A1A, and I95. The wind from the ocean keeps the winters and summers more tolerable/moderate than in inland Florida (like Orlando).

If possible, you should visit a place extensively before settling. In my opinion, the first thing you need to do if you visit there is to go to Tree's Wings. You have to watch carefully, though.... there are two locations with two different managers. One is only so-so, but the other one is fantastic. Eat at the one on Royal Palm Beach Blvd.

I Googled it for you....

603 Royal Palm Beach Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, FL

Lion Country Safari is kinda cool if that's your thing, but it gets old if you live there. The John D McArthur state park, on the other hand, is something that can be enjoyed again and again for the peace and scenery. The waterways are as nice as anything in the intracoastal.

Drive through the neighborhoods before you decide where you want to live. While most of the area is good, I've seen some pretty bad stuff come out of some of those areas. You'll know the bad parts when you see them. Going from rich to poor is like hitting a wall sometimes in south Florida. West Palm isn't nearly as bad as Miami for this, however.

A bit like East Palm Beach but a bit to the right

It sucks, reallly. Not a whole lot to really look at aside from the beach and plastic women. Unless plastic boobies are your thing, which I'm thinkin' it's not. Also, lots of foreign radio stations and bad tasting hot dog stands. :)

It's ok for a vacation, but not to live here, I know this from experience.

It's much like the rest of the state. It is the home town of the great University of Michigan wide receiver, Anthony Carter.
