how likely is it to get pregnant if you're on the pill and take it at exactly the same time every day? i set my alarm every day at the same time and i take my pill between 7:00 and 7:01 every morning. i'm just freaked out cuz my mom's cousin's daughter just found out she's pregnant and she's on the pill and hasn't missed one or taken it at different times. so does this mean if i have unprotected sex during my "ovulation" time i could still get pregnant? even if he doesn't ejaculate in me?

Hi there,
If its taken at the same time every day, then the chances are low but not guaranteed. I was on them for almost 10 years and didnt get pregnant once. I would also like to point out that when I did come off of them to have a baby, I got pregnant within 4 months. And this time it only took 2 months. However, you need to be aware that certain medications will interfere with the pill, for example, antibiotics and antacids. Do your research on the net, and ask your doctor. If you are taking antibiotics at all, you need to use a back up method for the rest of that month. Condoms and foam.

Out of 100 women taking the birth control pill 2-8 will become pregnant each year. Yes it is more likely if you do not take it at the same time each day, but nothing is 100%
That is why generally people use two methods of birth control if they really do not want to get pregnant. Discuss this with a doctor or nurse and they can recommend something. However you sound pretty young so you should be using condoms. Just because you are mature enough not to make a stupid decision doesn't mean your partener is. Better safe than dead.

It is highly highly unlikely. Check with your brand of pill on their website and you will see that it is about a 2% chance if taken the way you claim to take it. No offense, but odds are that your mom's cousin's daughter is not exactly telling the truth...not a thing to say to her or anything, and about 20 people will get on here and claim that they too were perfect with the pill and got pregnant...but medical and scientific studies show that that just isn't possible...I was on the pill too...but took about two every other day, took antibiotics, was pretty much as responsible as most people on the pill...now I am almost 39 weeks pregnant...

It's great that you are so diligent about taking them on time. Antibiotics can interfer with the pill, as well as herbal suppliments such as St. John's Wort (I was 34, been on the pill over 15 years, and found out I was pregnant. My GYN knew I was taking the supplement, it didn't come out until a year after my son was born (he was born in 1999, information about it speading up metabolism for some medications came out in 2000).
Other supplements may also interrupt a cycle, so just keep your doctor informed if you are worried. And use extra protection when you are on antibiotics.

You could take the pill at the exact same time everyday and still get pregnant because no form of birth control is 100% effective against preventing pregnancy.
If you don't want to become pregnant, don't have sex.
Also, if you stress yourself out over it and allow yourself to think you are pregnant, you could make your period late and/or show signs of pregnancy without actually being pregnant.
If you're going to risk having sex, at least be prepared for the chance of becoming pregnant because it is a possibility.
Good luck.

You can get pregnant with the pill at anytime. It is not 100%. If you don't want to take the chance then don't have sex.
