Everyone knows that it is Congress that makes the law of the land, but when things go wrong its always the President's fault. Take for instance, the Trans American Express Highway (http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=15497) Says "The Bush Administration", please! I know how the government works, its all about the money. I am not saying it would all be wrong, but why is it being kept quite? I know Bush tried to stringethin our bourders, but Congress stop what he was tring to do. Now there is all this talk about the Northerain Summit, between Canada, America and Mexico. It might be a good thing, but just like in England. America may lose who and what we are. I know this Country need imorgrants, heck we are all immorgants for a time long ago, but no other Nation has changed the US like Mexico and its people, I will be the first to say I can see many good things from this, but I have to ask this. Why is it being kepy quite? here are some links -- http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53633

Quite recently Bush chose to sign into law that people could rifle through your mail without a search warrant...

You need to refine this question. Bush is to blame for a lot of the present situation in US, because he has caused the nightmare of Iraq. And, during his presidency, the executive branch seems to have become too powerful, in my view. Hopefully, the new Dem. congress will be able to check the executive branch some.
I'm w/ you on the US-Mexican border. I like Mexico, I like Mexican culture, I like Mexican people, but I do NOT want to live in Mexico. We, the US, are witnessing the "browning" of America. I think it's important that we maintain a strong Anglo identity, no matter how the US demographics may change. We must also help to liberate Palestine from the evil Zionist invaders.
Salaam & Shalom.

Some people do not have enough sense to know that many, many other in Congress makes these decisions also. Bush is only one person, but the flip flopping left wingers has always cut and run, and always point the finger away from them self. Many likes to blame Bush, soon they will see, he was not bad at all. Can not tell the demos that right now, but many will be wishing they could take their votes back, just wait and see.

One veto in 6 years? Yeah, congress writes the laws, but he had the option to stop bad laws. And for the vast majority of legislation, his vetoes could not have been overturned by a 2/3s majority. Besides, his is the administration, meaning he administers the law, usually with some latitude, especially with foreign affairs. Like Peter Parker always says, with great power comes great responsibility.

Because the President tries to take credit when things go right, so he gets the blame when things go wrong. It's sort of like with QBs in football. Also I don't think most people in the U.S. actually understand how power is divided in the government, so they tend to think that the President can do anything he wants (and he can do a lot more than he could at any time in history).

Because being the president means you take responsiblity for any failures in the government. If there is a problem it is up to them to try to fix it, even if it's not in his branch.
He needs to work with congress, present his points and try to get his actions approved or at least compromise. He shouldn't act with a "us vs them" mentality that both parties have had.
Remember the phrase "The buck stops here"? That means that blame goes up and a president shouldn't make excuses, he should take action. A much better president coined that term.

ordinarily i could say that its with the aid of fact the competition social gathering will continuously use him as bait. he's the main out front of all politicians and the simplest to "quote and misquote" with little or no fallout for the two edge. The President surely has little to no legislative potential. He can time table set, yet no longer write a bill. He can foyer for a bill, yet no longer vote on it. He can bypass out and marketplace a bill to the individuals, yet has no skill to preserve its passing. surely he's there for foreign places international family members, regulation enforcement and emergency powers. different than the veto he's only about powerless while it includes rules passing or failing.

The Trans-America Highway has been on the drawing board since 1992, when Bush Sr. signed the NAFTA treaty.

Our system of gov. works that way. The one most visual person involved gets the blame. No one blamed Bush when Cheney shot that dude because we all new Cheney did it. People can say "It's Cheney's fault" or "It's Bush's cabinet to blame", but Bush was the biggest public advocate of the war, so he is the one we all blame.
It transfers down to how we do everything. The waitress at the restaurant didn't cook your food, but who do you stiff on the tip when your food is bad? The waitress.

Because the President is the one in charge. He's the one that's supposed to work with Congress for positive results. But if he doesn't agree with what Congress wants to do, then obviously it is his fault nothing gets done because he blocks progress.
