As a high school student(Junior) taking college level courses(AP) I can tell you from persoan lexperience that regular classes and college level classes are a world apart. Not only will you get 2x or maybe even 3x the work, but the reading is brutal, especially history. I was thinking about graduating early, but decided Ill go all 4 years and get some more college credits and experience :D. If you have never taken a college level class before, I suggest you take one before you decide to go to college to see how much is epxected of you, because once you go to college, it may be too late.

From personal experience (I graduated my junior year on my 17th birthday), I would say that it is really your decision. It depends on what you are planning to do after you get out of high school and if you think that graduating early is something that you want to do. I chose a career that takes 6-8 years to complete so it has been beneficial for me. College prep courses (like AP courses) are always helpful and you can sometimes even earn credit if you take the AP tests before you graduate.

Another thing you might consider is doing a dual enrollment program at your local community college. You would only take basic college courses while still going to high school. There are alot of students who opt to do this instead of graduating early.

But, as always, there are some down sides to graduating early. 1) You miss out on an entire year of high school.
2) The transition from high school to college is difficult whether you graduate early or not. But it can be more difficult because you are younger.
I could go on forever with a list of pros and cons, but these are two important ones. Ultimately, you have to look at your life and what you want to do with it and decide whether or not you want to graduate early. One thing is for sure, I don't regret it. I am happy with the decision and have adapted well to college life. I hope this advice helps you.

I am jealous of you Americans. Here in Australia, to graduate you have to complete year 11 and 12 over a 2 year period. The only way to speed it up is to skip a grade before this process. If I could, I would complete high school as soon as possible, I believe you have a GPA and credits system. I would say, get to college as fast as you can, high school experience is over rated and college truely matures you. Be warned you could miss some of your childhood. I will graduate when I'm 17. *sigh*

AS a parent of an 18 yr. old who graduated as a junior, she had enough credits, but not enough know how to make it in college, she flunked all four college classes this semester. Take the time, take a few fun classes, take gym and really workout. Take as much free education as you can, college doesn't come cheap and if you flunk you still have to pay for it.

look into taking some extra classes you might be able to take certain classes at a night or daytime school or career center that gives you college class credit talk to a counselor at the school.
i did and had about 20 college credits before i even graduated from high school.
(i also didn't have much of a life. )

I'll have to disagree with most of the comments so far. I think you should stay. When I started college I couldn't believe it was so harsh compared to high school. Stay, enjoy your time, take some courses for college credit (like APs or college bridge courses) and you won't be wasting any time at all.

BELIEVE me, you'll regret not staying if you just move on.

this is supposed to be my senior year of high school but i decided to graduate this year instead of the following year. A lot of people told me to stay because senior year is supposed to be fun or whatever. but basically its a waste of time. now i'm in college and I am so ahead. I am really glad that i graduated early. don't let your friends and teachers/parents hold you back. Getting done with high school early was the best decision of my life. If you are ready, go for it and start living life.

As long as you take all required credits than you should be able to. There is no "rule" that you have to be in high school for 4 years.
