All phobias more than likley r associated with some sort of trauma, maybe as a child or due to something that happened to a person that then caused a fear to escalate. Then there r the people who have severe mental illness, the mind is so complex!

It's mostly from fear. This "fear" can be caused by a bad experience, reading or hearing somthing about it that makes you feel uncomfortable, or being told from someone else of their experiences. All phobias CAN be overcome, wheather you grow out of it, face up to whatever your fear is, or talking with outhers who have the same fears.

At some point in everyone's life something stirkes an emotional chord and attaches with it a fear of it. It may take decades for it to come out and maybe it never will but you never know what will trigger it.

I think some fears come from bad experiences. We dwell on those experiences until they be come an obsession. I also think that fears can come from something we don't understand. Once the fear is understood, it can be dealt with more effectively.

A bad experience with the associated object. The person comes to associate that object with fear and their chemical makeup causes it to be blown out of proportion. Sometimes, it's a learned behavior...for example, mom tells you that spiders are something to be afraid of and mom freaks out, therefore, you learn to freak out also.

maybe this q should be in the medical section. phobias can be learned by experiencing bad things or inference or be taught by others. some may be chemical in nature, the way the brain is firing. i don't know, just guessing

It is god I tell you. He created us this way with our strengths and weaknesses. However, other than that, it could have been from a bad experience that we had earlier with the thing we fear.
