Is it the sound card, or the bottom of the line speakers - how do I troubleshoot?

Assuming you're on windows: START->Programs->Accessories->Entertainment->Volume Control

From volume control, click options, click advanced.

uncheck the checkbox @ the bottom

try playing some music to check if there's no echo.

Also, check the jack @ the back - just in case, it's loosely plugged in.

ive bought a computer b4 with the bottom of the line sound card, so sound card technology is pretty good these days. speakers tho can b a different story, are ur speakers amplified (does it have volume control on it). If its not amplified, just buy some 10$ amplified speakers. Is the mic attached. go to the volume properties(sounds and audio devices) in the control panel. check the settings there.. unplug the mic first tho, its probably that, make sure u got the speakers hooked into the correct port, probably colored green. hope that helps...

Get a new set of decent speakers for about $70 to $90 bucks.
