Yes, but it will be difficult...we have to find them, or them find us first.

If you look at the Drake Equation, you will know that our chances of finding E.T. vary. You need to take into account:

1. Number of stars in the galaxy(current estimates 100-400 billion)
2.of those stars, how many have planets(estimate 20-50%)
3. For stars with planets, how many planets able to sustain life(estimate 1-5)
4. on planets able to sustain life, how many will life evolve on(current estimates sketchy 0-100%)
5. On planets where life evolves, what percentage of those evolve into intelligent life. (sketchy again 0-100%)
6. On planets with intelligent life, will they wantto and/or develop the means to communicate with us(conservative estimates say 10-20%)
7. For each civilization that does communicate, for what fraction of the planet's life does the civilization survive?

multiply these all together to get the number of communicating civilizations in the galaxy.

Question 2 and 4 make this equation tricky though. We're finding new planets everyday, so the estimates may be much higher. Also, since we try to use our own solar system for observations in guessing these variables, the debate of life on mars(the mars meteorite), and the possibility of life under the ice of Europa; greatly put these values in flux.

If you follow the link below, there is a calculator which will calculate the possible number of communicating civilizations in the galaxy. Keep in mind that if E.T. does want to chat with us, that our broadcast signals have only been going out for roughly a hundred years, and if they are just now getting our signal, theirs still has to make the return trip.

Well, honestly, I believe that while some people may be open to the idea (thought not to probing lol, sorry, couldn't help but add that) Anyway, other people, actually, most of the population of the world is too scared of the idea that we aren't the only ones out here. So I think because we ARE afraid, I think our minds would stay closed to interaction with other beings. It's not very fair, or logical, but it's what we know. We, as a population, are comfortable only with what is familiar to us. Anyway, Have an awesome day! :)

If we get lucky and find people on Alpha Centari we could send them a message and receive our answer about 10 years later :)

Not going to happen, because I highly doubt theres much in the way of intellegent life anywhere near us. People quickly forget how rare intellegent life is. The earth has existed for about 4.5 billion years, and we've had intellegent life for about 20,000 of them (with the ability to communicate with other planets for about 100), remember there is no reason to think that humans will last forever, most apex predators only get a few million years before they kill off their food source. So not only is it unlikely that a planet will be suitable for life, its unlikely that us and one of those planets have intellegent life at the exact same time. Its good stuff for sci-fi movies but its unlikely that we will ever make contact with "aliens"

I believe that there is a possibility but it is more likely that they will contact us first due to our insufficient technology. Also, I doubt that they will be people and are more likely to be a species that we could not imagine.

But, due to the infinite size of the universe, if we found a way to travel faster than the speed of light (i.e. wormholes, anti-matter), unlikely as it is, we could discover another planet that looks just like ours just the ground is tinted differently due to a slight difference in atmosphere. And you could visit somebody that looks just like you, but your wearing sweats while your double is wearing a dress or something. This is due to the infinite universe, causing infinite possibilities.

Theoretically yes. Supposing that there is intelligent life "near" us. Near meaning 100 light years awhile or so, and they have the capability to send radio waves in space.

The main thing to remember is that nothing travels faster than light. So any message we send must travel a long ways at speeds that are less than or equal to the speed of light.

First, we would have to find the other people. This has not been done yet.
Second, we would have to communicate with something like T.V. waves. We would have to be able to see theirs and understand them. This has not been done.
Finally, to do things faster we would have to manufacture or find a worm hole to travel instantly. This has not been done yet.
These things are theoretically possible, but we are years away from even scratching the surface.

if there is any aliens and they did really come to our planet through all these awesome distance then that's mean that they're ahead of us in science field and there a huge gap between us so we can't interact with them unless they decided it's okay with them and they show themselves to us ...

I think the most likely way it will happen is via communications which will take many years for each exchange given the distances involved.
