Nick Cannon. That Jordan guy on Nick. That little kid from Moesha. Bow Wow. And Lil' Romeo. These guys act as if they're the best thing since sliced bread, and unfortunately, little kids look up to them and think that school is not necessary if they can find success as a rapper. Then materialism kicks in and they are a lost cause. Black kids need better role models, such as Morgan Freeman, Sidney Poitier, and Nelson Mandela, in order to learn that there's more to life than just rap, materialism, and "the thug life." So what do you think?

I agree with you. I think that these celebrities are promulgating cultural separation and even more racism. The again, self-degrading comedy has been very successful for years! To all the people who think this question is racist, read it properly. The same obviously applies to people of every race.

I guess that you are okay with Paris Hilton, Justin Timberlake, Lindsey Lohan etc. I think that your first mistake was to generalize all black people. The next mistake was to compare two generations of people. First of all think back to when you were a kid and tell me who were your 60, 70 and 80 yr old role models. I personally love Freeman, Poitier and Mandela but I am 42 yrs old and seasoned so I can appreciate them. However in my youth I loved the Jackson Five, Beatles, etc.......

First off I really don't look at this as a race issue. I see kids of all races running amok. It's amazing! Parents of all races need to be more active in their child's lives. These days people work too much or are preoccupied with living their personal lives and put the kid on the back burner. We need to go back to basics and lead by example. OH, and turn off the TV!

I don't say they act cocky, but they should look towards the more respected people, such as yes Morgan Freeman & Martin Luther King.

But the people you listed above are just actors for entertaining, but some celebrity singers influence gangs and bad behavior to form, and that's not good.

But it's not just of color, it can be anyone. Sure some act like that, but I learned that just because some colored have bad habits, does not mean every colored person is.

I know what you mean. When you're sitting there and something happens and it's in sync with a stereotype that you feel guilty associating the situation with, but how can you help it when... I know all sorts of white kids who also look up to the thug life, it's romanticized, how can they help it??? How do you change what is "cool"?

I saw this question last night and I didn't answer but now, you leave me no choice. How much sleep do you lose worrying about this? How could this possibly affect you in any way? When you see those celebrities doing "negative stereotyping", as you call it, how much money is coming out of your pocket? Is your job in jeopardy? Is your wife leaving you for Nick Cannon? Will it affect your mortgage or car payment? Oh, it must be keeping you from getting proper nourishment. No? Then shut up about it.

You're not the spokesman of your race and your opinion is yours, but I'll point out that I have no respect for anyone to dwell on the actions of others and act justified about being a racist.

Didn't you just post this exact same question yesterday?

Honestly, I see white people acting more like stereotypical racists and rednecks than any other group.
