Why is the U.S. backing the Fatahs? If they are, why are there certain members of the Fatahs who claim to hate the U.S. so vehemently?

War is a tricky situation? Have you ever read Catch 22? Read it. If not, at least watch the movie.

Most wars are fought over a control of land and/or resources. It's a power struggle. There will always be disagreements.
