Or just another cycle of the weather system?
and b/c of this, will there be more Hurricanes in the future?
They are rebuilding New Orleans with the same size barriers as before. Is this smart or not?

As for New Orleans, no, stupid as ever, for $20 million they could engineers from Holland build seawalls that won't fail, instead they will spend nearly as much repairing the old levee system with the same style of construction as failed last time, if the whole are is subsiding and already 7 ft. below sea level, it's just plain stupid to try, they might better build a new city somewhere else ABOVE sea level, and with the spectre of "global warming" raising sea levels, it just makes it twice as stupid.
Last few years the predictions of hurricanes in numbers and strength have been about twice or a third again higher than what we saw, now they think dust storms from Africa make put the damper on our tropical storms from the Atlantic. However, a shift further away from the equator of tropical storms is blamed for record flooding in the Ohio Valley and Northeastern USA last year. While the West is not lacking for winter conditions, they say warming over teh Pacific will cause even warmer weather in teh East this year. Plus we are entering a period of typically more intense hurricane activity in the Atlantic, and signs of other climate trends towards warming which we have seen before over the centuries. Additionally, the sun is going through a cycle of increased radiation of heat, also effecting storms on Jupiter and melting ice on Mars, and scientists have noticed a larger growth in crystalline structures in outer space. If global warming is a factor, on top of these others, it could be very interesting this year. Just a question of whether to plant rice or drought resistant crops in the garden, or start working on an ark. Anyone have a cheap houseboat for sale? One thing is certain, if warming temperatures push tropical storms further north, coastal property had better be well insured, enjoy the beach houses while you can. The smartest thing I did was getting rid of my snowmobiles, I used snowshoes once last year, still hanging up this year.

You ask several questions but, yes, this is Global Warming. I do not think it is just a "cycle".

Yes, there will be more hurricanes in the future.

No, I was in New Orleans in November and I found that they are not building it back as they should. Also, lots of homes are still standing in a mess and they want enormous prices for them; even messed almost to the point they should be torn down. The whole debacle about the hurricane in New Orleans and the Hurricane in Texas and New Orleans (Rita) is a black spot for the history books of the USA.

How long has the planet existed?? And out of that time, how long have humans recorded weather patterns?? To be honest the world has been around a long *** time, and for all we know, this is just part of the cycle that we go through. In Michigan we joke about how the weather is unpredictable, it can go from snow one day to 75* the next, but weather here has been crazily warm lately. Whatever mother earth has intended is what will pan out. We live on a planet, it has cycles and ways of balancing itself out, just ride the wave...

I'm not sure if it's global warming or not, but I did notice the weather was strange out here too we usually always have snow on christmas and we did not have one drop of it! I think it snowed once or twice, but melted a few hours later in Indiana. I just hope this doesn't mean summer is going to be in the 100s!

It's a cycle, we've been having more solar activity than ever in recent months/weeks and it's directly affecting the earths average temperatures.......these temperatures have happened before and things cooled off just the same.......if we have year after year after year of this for 8 or 10 years then it might be time to start looking at other sources........but this has happened before and all the "global warming" zealots are just that.....zealots

Yeah its beautiful isnt it? I ran around in a T-shirt today. I remember growing up in Ohio back in the 70s and 80s it would snow off and on from Thanksgiving till March. Now we are lucky to get one good snow a year.
Global warming? I dont know...but something is changing. No denying that.

I don't know if it's a precursor to something or not, but I think if it were global warming, it wouldn't happen so abruptly. This is more like an El Nino thing. I'm not complaining though! 62 in JANUARY?! I'll take it, even though it's soggy and I bet the fleas and mosquitos and ticks will be HORRIBLE this summer!

Reynoldsburg, here!

No. Global warming is real but the weather we're having now is an anomoly and people who claim bizzare years like this are setting themselves up for a slap down.

The people rebuilding New Orleans are cheap, remember that now. The gobal climate keeps shifting, it never used to be this way. A long time ago, the climate used to be a lot higher, but just in case the world starts to flood, do you have room for me in your shelter? I'll pay rent. lol!!!
