I think the only defense against stereotyping has to take place on an individual level, and it is a process that must be maintained throughout one's entire lifetime. I am heavily tattooed and I feel that many people stereotype me. I cannot change everyone of their minds, but I can live true to my own beliefs, and in doing that, I feel in the long run, I am doing my part to break down stereotypes.
