I was trying to view my temporary internet files. I've never been able to see them. I was trying various things like selecting hidden and read only. Now a lot of folders are hidden. Plus files on my desktop. How do I restore it back and is there a way to get to my temporary internet files? I want to manually delete them because they didn't all get deleted when I went throught Internet Explorer tools. I can see the files whenever I save an email attachment. (I click on save as and it is already in that folder, but won't allow me to delete anything.)

In order to changes folder settings back to visible, you must first set your folder options to be able to see hidden folders. If you already know how, do it and skip the next step. Keep in mind that when you select the "Show Hidden Files and Folders", your desktop icons will reappear, but the folder and files are still hidden.

First, open up a folder, and in the menu bar at the top: Click on "Tools" then go down and click on "Folder Options..." In that window click on the view tab, then go down and select "Show Hidden Files and Folders". Click ok.

Now to change your desktop folder back to visible, go to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\
replacing "USERNAME" with the username of your account. Right click on the desktop item and decheck the box that says hidden. Then your done, it should be back to normal.

Hope this helped!

Go to folder options. And there's an option where you can select if you want to see hidden files, system files or hide both.

Select where you can see all.

After that you'l get all your files. Select whatever files you want to see normally and mark them as "not hidden" by unchecking the box in the properties window.

Then repeat same procedure to hide system files and/or hidden if you want to
