I know there is 40-B alcohol and perfume. Instructions say it lubricates the shaver, though I find no evidence of additional ingredients.

The solution seems to have only alcohol and perfume in it.

Yeah well i don't use that stuff just water!

The reason is because all it has is alcohol and perfume

The perfume could be an oil but it would be so diluted.

lotsa folks and companies say their stuff does this and that but it do mean it do!

Water, Hot water!

Well, Rumbler's answer is flawed. The Braun solution does have a scented oil in it that lubricates the head of the razor and alcohol that kills germs.

I tried making my own solution with no success. Despite my cartridge being full, my fluid gauge read low or empty. So here's what I did.

REMOVE THE CARTRIDGE AND PUT THE LID BACK ON IT AFTER EVERY CLEANING.

I shave 3-4 times per week and only clean the razor when it get's to the intensive setting.

I estimate I was losing 60-70% of the solution through evaporation by leaving it in the base of the charger. I have stretched a two pack of cleaning solution almost two years now. I also pour the contents of the "empty" cartridge back into another "empty cartridge and it's like getting third cartridge for the cost of two.

This was my solution, hope it works for others.
