Definitely - but it will take work to get your foot in the door, and you may not even get a look when applying for jobs that offer the big salaries to start.

You'll need to work your way up through experience, but be prepared to hit a glass ceiling while trying to work your way up at a large corporation.

If you have the creativity and patience to start working towards building your own company and empire though, the sky is the limit.

Yes it is possible to make decent money without a college degree IF the individual has a great work ethic and attitude. Some of my cleients have found great jobs in Information Technology because they were willing and capable of solving problems and delivering service.

Experience and Attitude is what you want to cultivate to achieve this. If you do not yet have experience, a way to get it would be to work as a temporary contractor to build experience and credibility. One of the benefits of contract work is that with a good work ethic and problem solving skills, your temporary job could lead to a permanent opportunity.

Absolutely! I do have a degree, and my opinion is that the degree helps you get your foot into the door. It also helps you in some industries where you will not be hired without that piece of paper.

BUT, many people without degrees start their own businesses and are very successful. Others may work at the primo establishments and earn a fine living (i.e. top scale bars, restaurants, hotels). Union members can also make a fine wage sometimes.

Of couse, but you only hear about them because they are the execption, not the norm.

My buddy is the City Manager and has no degree. Only a high school diploma. Sometimes being at the right place at the right time is key.

Another friend of mine works on an oil rig like 6 months straight and gets paid 90k. The only downside is that he has to be on the rig and can't get off for 6 months at a time. But, to me, it sounds like fun.

The US Dept. of Labor has a great web site for researching occupations. Earnings potentials are listed. Not all occupations require college, but many require varying amounts of training.

You might want to check this out to do some research: http://www.bls.gov/oco/home.htm

YES! I was home schooled since grade three, but I work for myself and am doing quite well.

The thing is, to get certain jobs it can be more beneficial or required to have a degree.

If you work for yourself, no one can tell you you don't have the credentials. Most rich people (who earned their money, not inherited it) have done it that way.
