It has to be ordered by their doctor if there is a problem with their pregnancy. If they have been ordered to bedrest and they are refusing then they need to be told about the dangers. I lost a baby girl at 21 weeks due to incompetent cervix back in Aug and if my doctors had caught it in time I would have been on bedrest. I would have much rather spent the last 4 months in bed and had my baby.

As others have said, there needs to be a complication with the pregnancy. I was on bedrest for a while during the past summer because my son decided he wanted to come 3 months early. I was put on medication and once I was well enough and had no contractions, I was allowed to leave my bed (or couch). I was lucky, some people have to stay on bedrest for the entire remainder of their pregnancies.

If the person is like my mom who 5 days after major surgery was spring cleaning the garage, you have to hog-tie and threaten them.

My favorite threat is, "Mom, if you die from not getting enough rest I'm going to have you laid out in fully open casket in a sequined halter top and booty-skirt garter belt and torn fishnet stocking and hooker style 6 inch heels!"

She usually lays her 165 lb 68 year old Dr. of Religious Ed. Retired Bible College Founder tail down after that.

Is there a problem?? I was on bed rest for 2 months and it isn`t any fun at all !! I`m not the type to sit around all day though..Normally your doctor will tell you if you need to be on bed rest..
