how do you have to be? i am currently 17 and i have a checking account in my name. (wachovia) Is it possible for me to open up a savings account in my name only instead of having my parents co sign it?

with a savings account, is it like an "in" and "out" account in which you can deposit money as well as withdraw the money back into you checking account?

also, lets say if need be, can i close the savings and withdraw all the money back into my checking account without any fees/penalty?

Yes you can get one. I also have a checking and savings account at Wachovia. Yes, you can deposit money as well as withdraw money with the savings account. And if you have both acocunts at Wachovia, you can transfer the money back and forth between your accounts right at their website (you need to register first).

I know that my bank limits the number of withdrawals from savings accounts to six per month. If you withdraw money more than 6 times in a month, you get charged a fee. Also, if you decide to close the account, you may get charged a fee if you don't keep it open at least 90 days.

I was 15 when I got a savings account and its only in my name and I did all the paperwork with a banker with no parents present and no parents signature. The only requirement was that you had to put so much money in it to open it.
