my mom has something against myspace and wont let me have one. is there any safer sites but similar.

Pretty much any online chatting has it's risks. There are so many places, such as msn spaces, myspace, etc. Just always take precautions, especially when giving out any information. Never give your address, phone number or even city out if they have your full name. Just sit down with your mom and talk about boundaries for Myspace and ask her what she thinks you can do to stay safe on the Internet. It will make her feel reassured that you care as much as she does and that she is having a part in the decisions you make online.

Try facebook. It's more private, more "mature", and has a simpler, cleaner interface. None of that superfluous fluff that Myspace has, and it's aimed more at the College age and over.

yes there is a site called friendster, ringo, and cherry martini.com they are very similar to my space.
