This question is probably for employees or former employees of blockbuster video. Do you get rid of movies that don't do well?

I'm not sure of Blockbuster's policy, but I work at Family Video and after our "New Releases" have slowed on rentals, then they are moved to "Nearly New" and then sorted as needed to the other areas in the store. Also, when they are moved to "Nearly New", some are also set aside for the sale bins.

I'm not sure I completely underatand your question.

They have a limited amount of shelf space, so they try to fill the available space with movies that have a higher rental rate. If one movie isn't renting and they could use that space for another movie that will, the unrented movie will get bumped.

If you mean "movies that don't do well at the box office", some movies do poorly at the box office but make a pretty good return on rentals. Lots of Indie movies fit that category and the video stores will carry them as long as they continue to make money.

When movies that did very well at the box office first come out, some video stores will buy a bunch of copies and fill up a huge chunk of shelf space. As rentals decrease, the shelf space shrinks until it either gets consigned to a "classic" or other shelf, or it will get pitched entirely.

Im pretty sure they will use dvd cleaners products. If it still is corrupted, they will have the person who last rented the movie(without experiencing any problems with the dvd) pay for a new one.
