hold down the middlebutton and the menu botton at the same time until the apple comes onto the screen......it might work

I cocncur with what maggie said...there is an option to reset your ipod in itunes, but first try charging it. my ipod had half a screen and wouldn't do anything else---turned out it was accidentally on in my pocket and batt was DEAD.

reset it .. you may lose your songs and pictures but if you still have all of them on your computer it isnt that bad
