I'm *thinking* about getting a minivan. I'm still on the fence about it. I like the hauling aspect of it, the resale value is usually pretty good, and of course the extra leg room. I'd like to hear some of your thoughts on the minivan.

where I camp there are no roads. We hike to the best spot, then set up camp.

If you want resale I would look at an SUV as mini vans are a dime a dozen and lose there value so quick. I looked at the mini vans and SUV's as I have a young family. But I decided on a cross over/station wagon in the Dodge Magnum SRT8 as it met all my needs, lots of room for the family, lots of power, great looks, and can haul most items in the back with seats folded up or down.

If you are looking for a AWD I owned a Dodge Magnum RT AWD-(340HP) before I traded it in for the SRT8- 425HP(power hungry). This was a very capable vehicle on gravel roads and got us to areas were we went hiking.

Also, the Magnum actually got pretty decent mileage with the Hemi motors. The magnum RT AWD I averaged 17mpg city and 23 mpg highway. My Magnum SRT 8 I avg 14mpg city and 24 mpg highway. Pretty respectible with the amount of power these cars have.

I would SUV I camp and off road to very remote areas. I would not ever try this in a van. Now there are some vans that I have recently seen that are 4WD lifted and rugged looking I have no idea who makes these just saw a couple on the road over the last week. minivans are front heavy. Even if they are so called all wheel drive they are not good for dirt driving in general. SUV's have a pretty good resale value in general.

My wife and I have owned 2 Dodge Caravan's and we loved them. Especially with having kids they both had alot of room, and the kids were not crowded inside. Personally I miss us having a minivan because it had alot more room than the car we have now.

I wouldn't own an SUV, personally because I have no need for 4wd, front wheel drive works just fine for me. Plus minivans usually get better gas mileage than suv's do.

My fav is the OLD Mazda MPV 4X4....

I also wanted that new R/T Dodge SLT mini van in 2002 but it never made it to the showroom.. It had the Mitsu 3000GT DOHC motor in it...

2006 and 2007 Look at the New Ford Escape, Dodge Nitro or the Chrysler Town and Country... I hear good things about Pontiac Torrent AWD, and Pontiac Montana SV6 AWD...

The Hummer H3 is Very nice but its a Trailblazer 4WD under its looks.... So that one comes down to Cost.

OOOHHH ... I can't compare or rate a car to a Mini Van they are just to different...

We did a full stereo system in a Dodge Caravan 2WD and still had plenty of room for bikes and skate boards with 4 captains chairs...

We have a Ford Windstar and love it. It's great for vacation and shopping trips. It's not hard to park and gets decent fuel mileage. I have never owned an SUV so I can't really compare the two.

I wouldn't own a mini van ever but there are some people that really like them. They are great for young children but I wouldn't trade my All-Wheel Drive SUV for anything. I live in blizzard country. It's just your preference.

They are great for camping. Pull the back seats out, throw down a foam pad. Whammo. Instant tent. ( and no lumpy rocks under your sleeping bag)
