i have been married a long time, and yes, i have lied about where i have been. but just a few times, and nothing serious, i have said i was on my way home when i was still checking out at the store, stuff like that.

Well I'm not married and probably far from it but atleast i can give you another view point? Does your hubby have to know where you are 24-7? Then again I don't know why you'd have to lie to him. Personally i'd never dream of even touching a possesive guy. But if your cheating then its time to think about a divorce.

I have once, I lied to him telling him I was at my mother's house. I was really at the mall. The only reason I lied is because I hate to hear him telling me how much I should spend.

He hates that I shop for clothes and whatnot, therefore, if I am at a clothing store, I tell him I'm somewhere else. Then when he says, thats a nice dress, I've never seen you wear it, is it new? Im like, no baby, I have had this dress for years, and as a matter of fact, I "have" worn it, dont you remember? Gezz, you always forget!! Well then, tell me how good I look in it AGAIN.

In part because it is none of his business.
If you say where you have been then it will start another round of questions.
So IF for example I stop by the shoe store and I were to tell him, I get the dreaded "NOT ANOTHER PAIR OF SHOES look" so If I were to go there, I would just say I stopped by the bookstore or library.
If I go to visit my friend who he thinks (and is justified in thinking) is a slut, then he thinks I am cheating on him so if I say I am going to visit another friend, it is not a big deal.
SO I guess to answer your question, I lie to keep the peace

I try not to lie to my partner. it will come back somehow and honesty + trust in a relationship is a must. otherwise, it you need to lie, there must be some other problems between you and your partner, and you are both heading to a very negative place.
