The mind says one thing and the heart says another. How many times has that happened to us? Countless no doubt. What is the explanation behind this? When faced with difficult situations, having the mind and the heart at loggerheads can drive anyone insane. Which do you follow, what do you do?

In the words of Antoine de Saint :

"And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye."

Is it really?

well, this is why we have a consience. often a comprimise of some sort cn be reached, but i often find it leans towards the heart. (this is purely in prose and based on the biases of former logic of our ancestors that the heart thinks. it's really just different parts of the brain, so technically it's the brain vs. the brain.)

The mind dominates the heart and we think is the heart expressing when in reality the mastermind is the mind all the time because the heart is just a muscle that receives orders and follows through those orders.

To say that the heart has any feeling or that is capable of expressing feelings is only a figure speech.

The heart knows his own bitterness.

The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Emotions, personality and attributes come out of the heart. Inmost thought and feelings come from the heart. Spirit or courage belongs to the heart. Central function of the blood and the blood is the life of man.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

We are to walk in the Spirit. Let the heart and mind follow the Spirit. Apart from the indwelling Holy Spirit, the law of sin would dominate our life. Walk after the Spirit.

Because love or conscience (the heart's "domain") often defies logic (the brain's "domain").
