I heard this sound a few years ago and I heard if for months. Some say it could be a panther others say it could have been an owl.

Well I'm in Canada but here we have porcupines and when they are mating they scream (can you blame them!?!).

Years ago my parents were camping with my aunt and uncle when they heard what they thought was a woman screaming.

They went to get the Park Warden and found out it was a pair of mating porcupines.

I'm pretty sure they live as far south as Louisiana.

Then again it could be a panther.

A lot of predatory birds make screaming sounds, as do reptiles, frogs, and insects. It could also be a non-native animal too -- a former pet. Panthers aren't in Louisiana, are they? Well, then again, they aren't in Illinois, but people have been seeing them.

Hmmm...I was going to say Little Richard, but he's from Georgia, so you must have a big cat....probably a panther or bobcat.

lol...that's a little freaky. I wouldn't be able to sleep too well. I would think maybe some type of wolf maybe? I would have tried to get in contact with someone from the L.A. dept of wildlife.
