Call your doctor they can tell you exactly what you can or can't take and call in a prescription if need be. There are many things in even OTC cold medications you would not want to use while pregnant or nursing. Many even raise your blood pressure.

But don't suffer through your cold either, once quick call to the doctor and they will be happy to tell you what you can take.

I've attatched a article from BabyCenter, but I till think you should consult your doctor as depending upon your situation he may or may not agree with what he prefers you take.

Don't worry about calling on the weekend, they are used to it, the service will forward your call and he will return it. I'm sure your doctor would much rather you call than take any risks with your health or your babies.

Congratulations and good luck!

I did but only when I asked my OB first. I was really sick and was coughing and not sleeping. So she told me that I could take Robitussin dm. But call your OB or doctor first, they will tell you what is safe and what isn't. I know what it is like to be sick and pregnant I had a lung infection and an ear infection and tonsillitis all when I was about 5-6 months. Good Luck

No. My sister is pregnant right now and she's barely even able to take tylenol. I think cold meds would make your baby drowsy, which can be harmful. I would ask your doctor first to make sure. I hope you feel better.

Never.
I work with special needs children.Any type of disability can be caused by medications that the mother took during the pregnancy, and breastfeeding...its a big no no.
Stay in bed, drink lots of teas, and fluids, and take some vitamin C-s. That might take up longer to recover, but it worth doing it if you want to have a healthy baby...and not one with Cerebral Palsy for instance.

My doctor gave me a list of medications that were safe to use doing pregnancy. For colds/coughs/allergies: Tylenol, Robitussin, Robitussin DM, Benadryl, and if you don't have high blood pressure Sudafed & Actifed. As with all medicines you should talk with your doctor about your specific situation, a pharmacist may give you advice as well. Good luck, I getting over a cold myself.

ask your doctor to give you a list of what is safe to take for stuffy nose, cough, soar throat etc... that way when you have a cold come up you can look at the symptoms and find the right medicine to take that is approved by your doctor.

Most OTC's have pregnancy indications. Make sure you read the label prior to purchasing, or ask the pharmicist at the drug store to recommend something.

Nope! I have an awful cold and actually saw my doctor yesterday for my monthly check*up. He said that's the fun part about being pregnant... get sick & you don't get to take anything!

Good luck!
