When cable TV came around people said that they would not pay for the service but now most people pay for either cable or satellite tv so the 'its free' argument shouldn't would water. Satellite radio is far superior to regular radio. No commericals on music stations, nationwide coverage, and better content. Listening to regular radio is torture when I have to do it.

The cost is probably the main factor why more people don't get satellite radio. I have become so fed up with the radio stations around here that I just listen to an NPR station most of the time because NPR doesn't have really have commercials. Satellite radio would probably be worth the cost if someone was in their vehicle at least 35% of everyday. Oh yeah, NPR is listener supported radio.

Let's see.......regular radio is free and most people just listen to it in their car on the way to and home from work.......Satellite radio might be superior, without commercials but for the most part radio is not a part of life like TV.

Unlike tv, music can be played on cd players MP3 players and many venues. People aren't willint to pay for yet another service. Especially one that is readily available to them whrough other means and cheaper. Also, regular TV started to limit what they would let you watch for free. We were forced to pay for cable if we wanted to watch anything, much like they are doing with basic services now. They think they can force us to pay even more by making basic services lousy and very limited. It gets to the point that people aren't willing to pay more and get less. That is my opinion.

We cancelled our XM account after two years of service when they suddenly decided to start withdrawing our monthly payments from our checking account WITHOUT any authorization.
