First, smoking anything is bad news for your lungs.
Second, cigarettes are jacked up with various preservatives and anti-mold compounds, not to mention odd things to keep them burning. Applying heat to that mix and inhaling it is not #1 on the health hit parade. Even if tobacco alone was not rather damaging, that would certainly push it way over the edge. Nicotine also punches your adrenal glands, which is part of why its so highly addictive. You have to keep hitting it to maintain that busy-bee buzz.
Third, marijuana is rather resinous and ALSO not something with which you'd want to coat your lungs over time. Never mind that if you get into it heavily, it slows you to a crawl and in some cases, helps you bring out your Inner Idiot. Its a central nervous system depressant and like any of the others, really good for causing you to pilot a couch for extended periods. Its "better" than cigarettes in that it does not get you addicted, just habituated if you pursue it as a glorified hobby. Unlike hard drugs, marijuana does not trigger a dopamine reaction in the brain. That's why you become resistant to, say, opiates and need increasingly large doses to get a response, whereas there is a fairly low ceiling for the THC in cannabis.
So "dangerous" is relative. You can choose between two kinds of gradual lung damage, getting hooked on nicotine (with the attendant health issues), becoming a couch potato and/or getting arrested for smoking weed.
I recommend avoiding both. Just drink until you're blind or the terrorists win. USA! USA!

In my opinion i feel cigarette smoking is more dangerous because of all the carcinoginics in them. They are physically addicting as well as habitual. As for marijuana, it is not physically addicting, you may feel it is because you can't get through the day without it, but that's just because you like the feeling of being high. And for the record, marijuana does not lead to stronger drugs by addiction, but by wanting to see if other substances make you feel as high or higher. also while giving my opinion i'll go on to say, marijuana is safer than alcohol. When have you ever heard of someone getting stoned and beating their wife or kids? I'm not a doctor, just an ex weed smoker LOL

Let's just forget about the specifics for a moment... The use of any drug, legal or illegal, dangerous or not dangerous, should be a choice. When someone, regardless of age, is exposed to second-hand drug intake, their choice is taken away - they are now using that drug against their will. This should be a punishable offense; especially so in the case of children. Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.

Marijuana is a habit, while cigarettes are addictive. They say quitting smoking is like trying to quit cocaine. And when you don't smoke weed your just moody. You don't "Fiend" like certain other drugs.
