it is getting worse. it sounds like a hot dog is in there and it's popping. could this be dangerous?

I'm not sure what the problem is but a word to the wise don't mess around with Microwave ovens they can still hurt you even after they're unplugged.

Yes, it could be dangerous. You can buy a new microwave at Walmart for $34.99. It would actually cost you more to fix the one you have.

Yes, that means that ur microwave is going bad so don't take anymore chances of microwaving anything else. It may make it worse of it might catch on fire.

I don't even have a guess to what could be making that sound, but it's just not right. Knowing that it cooks by using RADIATION, you shouldn't take any chances. They're cheap, so get rid of it.
