As a part of the general security settings, if you're using XP professional you can set folder and file permissions. Anyone not using your log-in would be unable to view the files. This, of course, requires each user to have their own log-ins AND actually log off when away from the keyboard.

yes and no...

In the control panel under Users Accounts you can add users to a windows win xp computer.

In Win XP Home:
You can create limited users which can only access their own profile or Administrators which can access

If you really need a password protected folder on a win xp computer I reccommend right clicking where you want that folder and creating a new compressed zip folder. When in this folder you can add a password in the file menu.

In Win XP pro
After you create users you can give them permissions to access different folders by right clicking on a folder and going to properties.

Short answer is no.

If the folder is on a NTFS file system you can add security, but not a password.

To add to this.... it's profile based. Secure the profile and you secure the folders.
