If your arm was pinned under a boulder do you think you could cut it off with a rusty, dull knife?

To be honest with you, i probably would die instead of doing that. 99% of the people are gonna die because it takes courage to cut off your arm..with your other arm and hands :)

No way. I couldn't do, I can handle a lot of pain, but if I had to chose between losing my arm, and my life, I guess I would take the risk and wait for someone to come save me or call and get help, because I am sure I would end up being with someone else if I was going to be any where near where a boulder would fall on me.

No I think it's more likely that I'd sit there and try to pull it out... somehow though that seems really painful too... seems better than cutting it off. If I was on the verge of death and my last option was cutting it off.. I think I wouldn't as the amount of bleeding would probably kill me anyway before I reach civilization. I'd rather die less painfully.

I always carry a sharp clean knife for just such an eventuality. What kind of idiot carries a dull rusty knife?

No way. I did see a Prime time special about a guy that had to do that or he would have died. He talked about how hard it was to cut it off and even went back to the place it happened. I felt so bad for him.

Ouch...I know what you are referencing too. Geez...I could do it if I had to. I have to admit, that was probably the hardest call he had to make at the time.
