I like to cook and bake however the gas oven in my RV burns everything on the bottom.

I cooked a pound cake yesterday at 350° and the cake was cooked perfectly but the bottom was burnt.

It's been awhile since I last baked and now I remember why I stopped. Even frozen biscuits are burned on the bottom. I don’t think I have ever cooked anything over 400°. This is my first experience with gas ovens so I'm wondering if it's just a characteristic of cooking with gas?

Someone told me an insulated cookie sheet underneath whatever type of pan I am using might help.

Any suggestions on how I can stop this burning on the bottom problem?

The pan itself has very little to do with it as they are all made to bake with in the oven.

Every oven I'm aware of is off...sometimes by a little, but sometimes by a lot. Mine is off by almost 100 degrees. My toaster oven is off by 50 degrees.

Get yourself a $5 oven thermometer and hang it from one of the racks and always preheat your oven so you know what's going on in there. You can then adjust your thermostat accordingly.

Since this is an expensive part to replace (because of the service call), this is your best bet. You probably baked that cake at 450 - maybe more.

get an oven thermometer ... you may be setting it at one point but the regulator could be off causing it to heat higher. This goes for any oven at all, gas or electric

You could just lower the temp and put the item on a higher shelf, yes it takes a little work to figure out the right combo but you'll get there. And yes the other advice you've been given is good as far as better cooking sheets and pans.

you must be using propane, and if so reduce the temperature and raise it if needed.propane burns hotter than natural gas.respect it,it is very dangerous.on a lower heat, cooking a little longer, you'll be ok.

try to use the highest shelf and i think glass cookware or silicone ware is the best for baking.
