The poor give more. I think conservative christians give more because they give to organizations that share their ideas.

First of all, I'll bet that Sioux Falls wins. I think the overall conclusions drawn in the article are true. Liberals do tend to believe in Government to cure all ills. So when they sound "ALL CARING", they are really only caring to the point that they wished the government would tax businesses more and disperse the funds the way they (the Liberals) see fit. In reality that is a failed philosophy, if you will look back at the 1980s when Ronald Reagan was President charitable giving was much higher while he was cutting taxes and scaling down government. In fact, which party do you think has the most Millionaires in Government? The Republicans or The Democrats?
And yes percentage wise I'm sure the working poor give a greater share of their income than any other group, as the article pointed out many of them know the hardships and have maybe at some point had to rely on charitable offerings to survive. Words are only words that without action mean nothing. There are many famous spokespeople for various causes and I would really like to see their balance sheets and checkbooks to ascertain if they are truly living up to they words. Two individuals that I do have great faith in as a spokespersons are Bono and Oprah. Angelina Jolie sounds pretty good but I would like to know if she pays for her own travels or does she rely on the U.N.

I knew about the article. Liberals want the government to take care of the poor, conservatives see the need because some believe they may one day need the help.
My wife's house caught fire two weeks before we were married. Red Cross helped us but the government did not. We are always grateful for free will givers than people who believe others should help
.
If memory serves me right, Sioux City gave 30% more than San Francisco, even when the libs earned 30% more.

The rich give more in dollars; the poorer conservatives give more than the liberals of the same income bracket. The lower the income level in the liberal group, the more "takers" you find and the less "givers", in just about everything culturally.
