Prismatic Art Markers (single sided). And keep 'em stopped up tight - they dry up FAST.

There are some cheaper but none as good as Prismacolor. I have a full set. I have had it for a few years now and only had to replace a few of the colors. I use them to render on velum so I use the blenders a lot. Pantone has a set too, but I think the price is similar. I don't like Pantone's markers but I like their blenders better. They are refillable. Save up for Prismacolors - watch for sales. Sometimes art stores have coupons in the paper for one item at 40% off. Buy your Prismacolors then. That's when I bought mine.
