If this is your first pregnancy dont worry some dont feel the baby move till up to 24 weeks its not that unusual. If you are concerned why not see your midwife or doctor and ask then to let you hear the babies heart beat just to reassure you everything is going well. Good luck.

Most women feel their babies move for the first time between 16 and 22 weeks. Smaller women and women who've had previous pregnancies have been proven to feel their babies move quicker. Some women report feeling movement as early as 14 weeks. I felt my son move for the first time at 14 weeks, but I was underweight. If you have a little extra meat in the tummy area I wouldn't be concerned. Maybe you are feeling your little one move and you are confusing it with gas. The more they grow the more noticable the kicks are. I would not get worried just yet if I were you. You could start feeling the baby within the next few weeks. Or, maybe your due date is off. If you are 20 weeks they should be doing an ultrasound soon to determine the sex of the baby. They will be able to tell if anything is off then. Stress is bad for you during pregnancy, so it might make you feel better if you called and spoke to a nurse at your OB's office. She will probably calm your nerves better than I can. I hope all is well. Congrats on your pregnancy!

With my first child, I went in for my 20 week ultrasound, and I was 22 weeks then, but I saw the baby kick, and found that i had been feeling kicks for a while, i thought it was gas... It was a funny mistake, and Now prego with my second child, could feel it moving at 17 weeks. I would give it untill 24 weeks, if still no movement is felt, then talk to your doc. You may just have a little extra fat that is cushoning the tiny kicks. Good luck.

When I was pregnant with my daughter I never felt her move. I was considered high risk so every other day I had to go for a stress test and a ultra sound. I was told that I did not have enough water in my water bag. My water busted at 37 weeks with no complications and now I have a beautiful healthy 9 year old daughter. call your doc. and let him/her know what is going on. Also they say if it is your first pregnancy you may not feel it as soon as others do. I am pregnant now with my 3rd baby and I did not feel her move until 16 weeks.

I wouldnt worry too much about it. I know thats almost impossible!! But I didnt feel my baby move until later too. Im thinking around 21 weeks or so. Now im 31 weeks and she moves all day and night. Just be patient. See your doctor if you are really worried about it. I used to freak out all the time too, because other woman told me that they felt their babies move at like 16 weeks. Every baby is different. Yours will move when he/she is ready. Take care.

Everyone who previously posted that the baby moving feels like gas is right...it sounds quite crude but it is correct.

When I was pregnant (I only have one), I recall feeling him move around 20-ish weeks, maybe a week or so later...it really just felt like gas, eventually I could actually see my stomach moving, it was amazing.

Don't stress, hun, stress does nothing for you OR your baby. Just relax and wait for your next OB appt.

You know, if you are really concerned, you can buy fetal monitors, they are available at Motherhood (the retail clothing store) I believe, they actually allow you to hear the heart beat of the baby while you're at home...this should help to alleviate your fears.

Good luck.

your fine hun. i think around 20 weeks or so is when i first started feeling my baby kick. but it is different with everyone. sometimes if a mother is a little overweight, then it will take longer for her to feel her baby kick. but you will feel the baby kick soon im sure. if you have any doubts or concerns, then you should talk about this with your doctor. Good Luck and congratulations with your new baby.

My friend was pregnant and quite far long and her baby stopped moving for 2 days.
They scheduled to remove the baby thinking he was dead. But, her ride to the hospital was delayed by a few hours and then suddenly the baby moved. If her ride had gotten there at the scheduled time, they would of removed him too early and he wouldn't of survived. But he moved and she gave birth to a healthy baby. After he got older and she told him this story he said" Oh I was napping mom :)"

Usually by this point you should have felt the baby move. If you suspect something is wrong, you should call your ob/gyn. They will probably do an ultrasound to make sure that everything is okay.

Thats really weird. If your used to the baby moving, then I would seek medical help. Some tips are drinking something really cold, placing cold water in hands and rubbing belly. You need to try to arouse the baby.
