There was this good teen book that I read but I only remember the title and not the author: here are a few I really enjoy!:
1. Beauty- a retelling story of Beauty and the Beast. Robin Mckinnely?
2. Tithe - a fairy adventure, the only thing is that "flowery" language.... - author????
3. Tourist Trap - I relate to this a liitle, it was a just another beautiful happy ending for this girl who loves horses...... Romantic
4. Even though I didn't enjoy this one much, because of the "flowery" language and improper stuff that I felt uncomfortable reading but an OK book for teens. Based on a girl who is 17, and faked being 19 to have this guy like her..... sad and to the point (reality)..... name: Faking 19 author: ???????

Anne of Green Gables - Lucy Montgomery
Strong female character. Inspiring! Loved it.
Are You There God It's Me Margaret --Judy Blume
Not Pulitzer Prize winning stuff but this book helped answer a lot of growing up questions I had at age 11 and 12.
I also read all the Little House on the Prairie books. They will seem like fat books to a 12-13 year old but the print is easy to deal with. I felt so satisfied after I finished each of those!!

I dk ur style, but i LOVE historical fiction and when i was 13 this amazing series came out by Lynn Austen it's called Refiners Fire. It's compiled of 3 books all taking place during the American Civil War and each book is from a different perspective.
The first is Candle in the Darkness tells of Caroline, a southern bell, who is faced with making the choice between helping her father's slaves become free at any cost or being loyal to the Confederacy.
Fire By Night (my personal favorite) tells of Julia, a once spoiled northern aristocrat who lowers herself to the position of a nurse during some of the most gruesome battles of the war.
And finally A Light To My Path is the story of Kitty, a slave in the south, trying to find her identity in the world.
All of these books are great, i couldn't put them down.
Oh, i just remembered!!!! if your not into historical fiction, here's one that you might like.
Amazing Grace by Megan Shull. it's a total chick lit!!!
God Bless!!!

My personal favorites are The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series by Ann Brashares, The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen, The Mediator series by Meg Cabot, Full Service by Will Weaver, Freshman by Michael Gerber (That might be more like 15-16ish though . . .) and my all time favorite that is a DEFINITE must read is Twilight, and its sequel, New Moon, by Stephenie Meyer. All of these are really great and have earned a special place in my bookcase : ) Hope this helps!
p.s. These are all fiction by the way . . .

Try the Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot. Also, old school Judy Bloom and Nancy Drew are good. Babysitters Club is a good series too. Most older books can be found for @ 50cents at thrift stores.

Depends entirely on the girl I think. Little Women is a classic, Little House on the Prairie or the Dear America series for kids who like history. Nancy Drew is good if she's into mysteries, but it's a bit old fashioned. Charlotte's Web is a great read as is James and the Giant Peach depending on her reading level.

I love everything by Joan Bauer, especially "Hope Was Here" and "Rules of the Road." They have very strong female characters and are good stories.
"This Lullaby" by Sarah Dessen and "Sloppy Firsts" by Megan McCafferty are two of my favorites, for high-school age kids.
Janet Tashjian has written some great stuff, especially "The Gospel According to Larry."
I also love nearly anything by Chris Crutcher, especially "Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes" and "Whale Song" (NOT "Chinese Handcuffs"--the only one of his bookds I truly disliked). He mainly writes about male characters, if that matters.
For a fun and frivolous adventure series that goes on and on, I'd recommend Francine Pascal's "Fearless" books. There are already tons of them and she's still writing them, about a tough girl born without the ability to feel fear.
Caroline B. Cooney also writes some great stories, including "The Terrorist," "Flight #116 is Down" and "The Face on the Milk Carton."
Good luck finding something you like; there are lots of great books out there!
