made sure an iron cast skillet was very hot put in a little lard and poured in the kernals covered it with a top and began to shake the skiller back and forth as soon as the corn started to pop until it stop popping by the way it was very good too

they had "Jiffy Pop" which was in an aluminum receptacle and you put it on the stove and moved it back & forth over the heat. As the corn popped the aluminum expanded.
they also had "corn poppers" I'm not sure how they worked
