I just watched "We Are Marshall" (great movie btw...) and I could swear there was a basketball team in Ohio that went through something similiar... It was a small college, and I was thinking the name started with "W"... I tried searching the net, but I came up with nothing... So all in all, I could actually be wrong... But I'd appreciate any help...

okay... that was definately the one i was thinking of... the place crashed 90 seconds after takeoff and 29 people (including 14 basketball players, 8 of which were freshman) were killed... most of them instantly, 2 players and 1 flight attentendant shortly after...

One of three planes carrying Oklahoma State players and coaches crashed more recently. Granted it doesn't begin with a W but it is still a similar tragedy.

Wichita State football team plane crashed also in 1970.
Evansville (Indiana) basketball team plane crashed in 1977.
