apparently scandium is a component of alloys used to make metallic baseball bats

possibly used in some kinds of light bulbs (certain mercury-vapor ones), some sports equipment (lacrosse stick shafts) but that's about it -

scandium is pretty rare, and even for applications for which it's well suited, titanium is more readily available and basically just as good.
