Note: the 'international drivers license' mentioned by the first answer is not actually a license. It is a translation of your current drivers license into a number of different languages. This helps law enforcement verify a license that is not in there language. With out the underlying license, it is worthless.

Yes, in certain countries, but you need an international driver's license. You can pick one up at any AAA office. It doesnt require any testing if you hold a valid US drivers license.
