NO MORE REWINDING...remember when the video store use to charge you for that?! DVDs give you extra bonus features that can sometime be cool. Some of the DVDs come with alternate endings not shown on VHS or in the movie theaters. Over time a DVD wont degrade like a VHS tape would.

Do You mean from a technical viewpoint,or movie quality/bonus features?
VHS uses a magnetised tape that was physically scanned by a rotating read/write head similar in principle to that of a tape deck but with more precision.DVD's use a non physical contact laser beam to read the information on the DV disc.DVD is digital transfer of information,VHS is not.DVD has higher picture quality than VHS.
DVD's are more easily accessed and handled than VHS cassettes. Both media are fragile-DVD's are susceptible to scratches,VHS to heat and magnetism.
More information can be put on a DVD-hence bonus information, chapter selections, documentaries, etc. finding a part of a movie on VHS now seems clumsy compared with the step thru chaptering menu on a DVD.
Comparing the same movie on VHS and DVD-picture quality on the DVD would be better-screen resolution would generally be higher. hope this helps..

are you seriously asking this question? lol ok sorri, a dvd is a round flat disc and its quality of the movie is pretty good. I think the only downfall it has is that it can easily be scrached or broke. a vhs is a rectangle shaped box i guess you could say, and it has a tape strip inside that wraps around two wheels. The quality of the movie isnt perfect but it is fine. a dvd isnt as bulky as a vhs. hope this helps!

the difference between vhs and dvd is they record the movie on a vhs with no features but on dvd they put more features on the dvd like games, deleted scenes, bloopers, inside stuff.plus with dvds you dont have to worry about rewinding it.

DVD's is a CD. VHS is a tape. With the DVD's you could translate in other languages, with VHS you cant. DVD's are better.

Blu-ray and HD Dvd are 2 separate companies both making High Definition DVD's. Bluray has won the battle so you will stop seeing the HD dvd brand and only be able to get blu-ray high def dvd's. You can still get the regular dvd's too. The difference is bluray is more crisp, better in picture and sound and able to hold much more on one disk. You do need a bluray player to play them. Most bluray players will also play regular dvds and upconvert them to make them look nicer. But you do need a new hd tv to be able to get the full benifit of bluray.

DVD on a disc only play in dvd player. VHS i a tape...old fashioned. Quality on dvd is more up to date as it is digital and they don't wear out through use.
