I’m in the transition from boxers to briefs. I want the support of briefs and the breathing space of boxers. I know that I cant have both, but I can probably have half of both. I might not get the full support from larger than size briefs and not the full space that boxers provide. I don’t want boxer briefs because they make everything too hot down there with all that material coverage.

Does any one buy larger size briefs like I’m thinking of doing?

no because if it gets stiff for some reason you don't want people seeing that

I have a 34 waist but I wear size 36 briefs because they fit more comfortably than size 34 briefs, which I find too tight.

No, I like the tight fitted feel. But I could understand you wanting it a size larger for a little room.
