This is a 3-fixture hanging light over my kitchen island

Yeah, you should turn the power off before working on it.

Is it one of the sockets or is the entire fixture hanging? If it's a socket and you can see how this attaches, you may be able to fix it if it's a matter of a loose screw or something like that. If the bracket broke, you're probably just better off getting it fixed or replacing it.

If it's the entire fixture, it may be loose. If that's the case, you'll probably just need to tighten the screws that attach the fixture to the electrical box.

Turn the power off at the circuit box to that light fixture.Then remove the whole fixture.Now you can work on it with out dislocating your neck.
